My land adoptive is extremely rich in history. From the Troglodyte caves of Lascaux, the hundred years war and the trail of Saint Jacques de Compostel that passes by our door step.
Perigueux (capital of the Perigord Catholic) waged war and still does on the protestants of Bergerac, the capital of the Dordogne.
Some of these protestants fled and set-up shop as the winemaking Huguenots of Franschoek area in South Africa.
The river Dordogne was the only form of transport at one time for the wines from the high country as they were known in the market place.
